Firstly I would like to start out with the following - I'm no expert when it comes to Exotic woods - but learning at the speed of light.
I'm expanding what I do with wood working and loving every min of it - I was lucky enough to get a couple odd loads of wood , most of what I needed for my clock projects, and half of it was Exotic, sratched my head and bought it anyways figuring I could work small pieces in to inlays, or inlay marquetry, which ever you prefer to call it. We just call it inlay on the Cuckoo Railroad Clocks.
The wood below was something I never gave any thought to, that changed quickly after researching and well, on my way to new horizons.
One thing that most likely added to this addiction - Obession of mine, what ever you would like to call that,{ I'm no English Major } is that, German and Austrian Clocks are well know for having worm wood damage which adds to the character or charm of the wood. Back where I'm from, we called it the warmth of a piece, that old rustic antique that gave you a warm feeling, bringing back fond memories from the past { That all depends on how and where you were rasied }
I'll add to this as I get time, I'm working on sorting the lumber I bought, I might have more, remember these boards are all one of a kind, in colors and patterns making them highly sought after by woodworkers ,Luthiers and just musicians, I have started on making Guitars and might be with Violins, I love clasical music anyways - I did repairs many moons ago for a couple friends I restored their musical musical instruments . I did make a new investment into some Swiss Tooling from Pfiel - Swiss luthiers tools, and the jigs and other tooling I'm just going to produce them for myself , very picky about quailty in my tooling, bad tools can wreck months of work, I've seen it and what that cheap Garbage from India can do to a Antique - and I have had many pieces come in for repairs from other repair shops up north, not a pretty site, Anyways
